MUSIC CAN MAKE OR BREAK YOUR WEDDING!
Surveys show that 2 out of 3 guests agree that music can make or break the event. Everyone's heard that famous saying that "music can make or break your wedding" before, but when it comes down to decision time, many people will sacrifice professional DJ services to save a couple of hundred bucks. Never look at your purchase of a DJ like the purchase of a tangible item like food or the rental cost of a hall. When it comes to quality entertainment, there is little room for bargain shopping. |

SWEET TALK PRICING
Although you usually get what you pay for, this rule doesn't always apply. Bad DJ's can use slick telemarketing tactics and "sweet talk" you into paying a premium rate.
HINT: It doesn't hurt to ask for a discount if your event is on any other day than Saturday. Most entertainers' calendars are more flexible during this time and will tend to discount their rates. |

EXCLUSIVE INFORMATION WORKSHEET
When you book us for your wedding reception, make sure you fill out the Power DJ's Wedding Reception Information Worksheet. Our exclusive worksheet is 7 pages long and is optional for your to use. We strongly suggest you use it as it will provide us all the information we need to ensure your event is a huge success. The worksheet can actually help you plan your event and make sure nothing gets forgotten. Our worksheet is not for sale it is only for our clients! |

SALES, DISCOUNTS AND HIGH PRESSURE TACTICS
"We are having a sale that ends today." What you won't be told is that there will be another "sale" within a week. A sale is not a sale if they have it weekly! "For just a few dollars more, we will upgrade you. " Most intelligent people would never try to save money on the lower end service on such an important day. These unethical tactics are used to pressure you into a quick, uninformed decision. This tactic leads you to believe that you are getting the same service as everyone else for less, which is NOT true. Discounted rates mean inexperienced DJs who are the lowest paid in the industry, and the lowest in demand. |

EXPERIENCE EXPERIENCE EXPERIENCE
Do not risk hiring an inexperienced DJ just to save a few dollars. A polished professional can calmly deal with the nervous family member, or a crowd that just won't dance, while keeping the event enjoyable. Make sure the DJ will be experienced at YOUR type of event. A DJ whose resume accentuates night club experience may not be best suited for the professional atmosphere that is necessary for weddings. Also, don't be afraid to ask for references. And, ask how the DJ has been trained - you may surprised at their answer! |
YOUR CHOICE OF PERSONALITY
Some events require a heavy interaction, while others like to have a DJ that will just remain in the background. Most prefer someone in between or - a moderate personality (also described as a master of ceremonies). The type of personality should be your choice. The best thing to do is tell the DJ what you want, then make sure that DJ is best suited for you. Then talk to your DJ as your special day gets closer. Watch out for words like "fun" and "good" - these are very subjective. Always be as specific as possible regarding what you want. |
BACKUP DJ's
What if your DJ is sick or is involved in an accident? Is that a gamble you want to take on your special day? Independent DJ's and small companies with just 1 DJ are the highest risks since they will usually have no back-up, leaving you without a backup!
HINT: If there is no backup, a common response you may get is: "I have NEVER had a problem before" or "I work with several DJs (network of DJs) that will be on backup for me." Both of these answers means they do NOT have backup! |
BACKUP EQUIPMENT
Backup sound system is not something that is good to have, its a necessity. We have a huge sound system that is absolutely top of the line. However, electronics can break or become unusable without any advanced notice. That is why we have a backup system that we can utilize to ensure that your event has music without fail. Not many DJ services have one professional sound system, we have two just for you! |

DRINKING ALCOHOL - WHAT IS YOUR COMPANY'S POLICY?
Do you want your DJ drinking alcohol on the job? This can be a legitimate concern. A professional DJ will not drink on the job. Make sure to ask about the drinking policies of the DJ services you are considering. |

RELIABLE FULL-TIME COMPANIES
DJ companies come and go every year! Similarly, new DJ web sites pop up on the internet every week and shopping by internet alone will give you only 1/2 of the story. Even today, the web is not all encompassing, and you may be missing out on a lot of vital information. Check with your other vendors (hotels, photographers, caterers, bridal consultants) and most importantly - call and talk to each prospective company. Remember, DJ's perform a customer service, and how they handle your initial consultation can give great insight into how they work as a whole. |

THE MUSIC YOU WANT
For weddings, all the music played during the ceremony and reception should reflect the taste
of you and your guests. We will never play music that we PERSONALLY want to hear, because of these two reasons: (1) A DJ should play ONLY what the Bride and Groom and the guests want to dance to, and (2) a DJ leaves his personal taste in music out of the equation. |
I AM READY FOR MY AUDITION NOW
Some DJ's use each event as a blatant "audition" for future work and prefer to always look good in the hopes of getting more jobs. These types of DJ's are only trying to impress potential future customers (your guests). Others will try to impress you first. Many times, people who are paying for the DJ service will request music that is non-danceable or a mood killer which then reflects negatively on the DJ. Please don't forget that each DJ service IS a business. Find out how your DJ will handle such issues and pick one that will fit your needs. |

HOME SPEAKERS TO THE RESCUE
A professional sound system is a must. Double check the quality of your DJ's sound system. Most DJ services serving South Texas do not have a professional sound system. Ask what brands of equipment they use. Such names like JBL, Crown, DBX are among the elite. Even within those names are different grades of their products. We have a small fortune invested in our sound system to ensure your event gets the absolute best quality of sound.
HINT: Even you decide to not hire us for your DJ or if we are already booked for your day, please feel free to contact us on any questions you may have on your DJ or their equipment. We will give you our opinion on their equipment and then we will give you multiple sources that will verify our opinion. |

LOOKS GREAT
Another thing to consider, if they do have a professional sound system, how does it look? Make sure their equipment is clean and give a good impression, not homemade looking or old and worn out. Also, make sure that your DJ is a true professional in every aspect. When they set up, all wires should be concealed and everything should have a professional appearance. |
BRING IT ALL
Your DJ should have everything they need to perform. You should not have to provide tables, chairs or extension cords for your DJ. You might be surprised at what some DJ's don't have. |
DRESS THE PART
Make sure your DJ dresses appropriately for your occasion. We can not stress this enough. Some DJ's wear unprofessional company shirts to wedding receptions to advertise their business. |
LASER LIGHT SHOW
Laser light show? Does your event require a light show? Ask your DJ if they provide it and how much extra is it. Just like sound systems all light shows are not equal. Your DJ may brag about having a light show, but what does it look like? Try to get references. |
BIG SCREEN TV's
Big Screen TV's are a great way to liven up the party. If your DJ throws in a big screen for free, ask about the quality of what you are getting. Some DJ's have cheap $300 projectors that you can barely see if the lights are totally off. We have a professional Video Camera System and a Big Screen System that is clearly viewable with the lights on! |

SHARE YOUR VISION WITH US
For each event, we want to know what your “vision” is. For weddings, we like for the brides to tell us what they picture for their special day. For other events, tell us exactly what your planning and how you want it executed. When you share your vision with us, we can adjust our talents, ideas and experiences to your expectations. |
WHOSE THE STAR
For wedding receptions, the bride and groom are the “Stars” of the show, not the DJ. Whenever appropriate, we keep all of your guests focused on why we are all there. This is not the DJ talent show of the century…this is a celebration of the biggest day of
YOUR life! |
